Santoro Brings Home All-State Honors Again at IHSA State Finals, Lowers School Record Again

Wednesday, June 7 2017 - IHSA Boys State Track Championships - Arthur Santoro

Capping off his regular season at the IHSA State Finals for the third consecutive year, senior Arthur Santoro added another accomplishment to an already impressive resume, as he finished fifth in the 800m run at last weekend's IHSA State Track Championships in Charleston, Ill.

The top-nine finish earned the senior captain his second All-State honor in the last three years, as he also led off the 4x800m relay team in 2015, which took home a sixth place All-State finish.  His time of 1:54.39 also lowered his own school record by nearly a half second and is the eleventh school record Santoro holds in both indoor and outdoor track.  He also holds numerous freshmen and sophomore school records as well.

Santoro is only the third athlete in program history to earn multiple All-State honors and it marks the thirteenth state medal over the last eight years for the boys cross country and track program, the only boys All-State honors recorded in school history.  This weekend's performance was also the highest ever finish in Class 3A for the Eagles.

Santoro will wrap up his Jones career with two additional post-season meets as he looks to lower his school record even further before continuing his track career at the NCAA level for Knox College in Galesburg, Ill.
