Eagles Conclude Indoor Schedule with Program Best Performances, Move Outdoors for Second Half of Season

Thursday, March 28 2019 - Jones College Prep 'Fast Times' Invitational - Alex Fundator

Putting together a successful first half of their season, the Eagles concluded their 2019 indoor campaign last weekend with another showing that boasted numerous all-time top ten marks across each level.

To highlight the day in his final indoor race for Jones, senior captain A.J. Fundator ran to a third place finish in the 1600m with a personal best of 4:30.96, which also made him number seven all-time at Jones for the indoor event.  Fellow senior Michael Villa also finished in a scoring spot with a 'PR' of 4:34.69 to finish sixth and Junior Ian Bacon crossed just beforehand in fifth place for a season best of 4:34.60.

The Eagles also had all-time program best marks in three other events on the day.  Junior Anthony Maida continued his impressive season with a personal best in the 800 (2:04.75) to land in the ten spot on the all-time indoor 800m list, while sophomore Aaron Hou's 'PR' in the 3200m was good enough for  second place finish and third all-time for Jones sophomores.

The freshman quartet of Alexander Papadopoulos, Ethan Sterling, Alan Menninger and Kai Lee also made their mark to run the third fastest freshmen 3200m relay time in Jones annals led by Sterling's breakout split of 2:13.

A day prior, the other half of the Eagles opened up the outdoor season for Jones as they traveled to Lane Tech Stadium for the Len Jareczek Relays.  Leading they way for the first time outdoors in 2019 was a trio of milers, as Baito Sarkiss finished fourth in the 1600 (4:44.33) and two new Eagles joined the 'Sub-5' club as junior Colin Greiner clocked a personal best 4:56.12 and sophomore Owen Charles dipped under in 4:59.85.  Senior Jeremy Yakes and Junior Joaquin Ramirez also led the way in the 3200m relay teams, recording 'PR' splits of 2:11 and 2:12, respectively.

Collectively, the Eagles move outside after having posted numerous other 'Top-10' marks on the indoor lists this season, including two other 3200m best marks from Maida and Fundator who etched their names in four and five spots all-time, while Sarkiss and senior Liam Reynolds also grabbed spots in the Jones 'top-ten' list in the indoor 400m, in seventh and eighth all-time.
