DGS Safely Advances to Sectional Weekend

This morning, the DGS boys XC team raced at Hammel Woods in the IHSA Plainfield South Regional. After getting out to a decent start and situating themselves in ok position, the Mustangs faded a bit over the 2nd half of the race. While the performances of the team were a bit disappointing due to huge time gaps between 1-3, 3-5, and most importantly 1-5, the team did enough to move on to the next weekend where they'll have an opportunity to truly showcase the quality team they are.

While the overall performance was lackluster, one bright spot was Stephen Pipilas' All-Regional 4th place finish. Stephen raced towards the front early on before getting gapped slightly from 1.5-2.7, but closed well to chase down DGNs 4th runner (and 4th place) Nick Chudzik. 

Overall, the team placed 2nd out of 9 teams, narrowly defeating an undermanned Plainfield South squad.

Nezt weekend is the big test as the team travels to Katherine Legge Park in Hinsdale to face off against 5 top 10 programs with a trip to State in the line. It should be an exciting week of practice culminating in the Mustangs finest race of the year.
