Weather Can't Stop the Cats
Wednesday, May 19 2021 - SPC Tri Meet Joliet West and OswegoWeather can’t slow the Wildcats. Despite constant rain and wind the track team had some very strong performances at Joliet West. The team took home 6 event victories and tallied 25 personal bests.
The event winners on the night were Connor O’Leary in the 100, Anthony Nieves in the 400, Mike Forbear in the 1600, Colby Williams in the f/s long jump, Raymond Churchill in the f/s 800 and the varsity 4x800 of Paul DeAvila, Cam Mulyk, Kyle Schick and Alex Rojo.
The sprinters had a strong PR from Connor O’Leary in the 200, as well as Colby Williams in the long jump.
A huge PR from Nick Syron led to the PR Chain and a 4th place finish in the discus. Other throw PRs were Nathan Lusk in the shot put, Gavin Schryer in the discus, Jack LaLonde in the discus, and Matthew Muhlig in the discus.
The distance crew had a great night of personal records. Cam Mulyk and Kyle Schick both ran personal best on their relay legs in the 4x800. Tommy Adelmann, Jayson Matula, Hunter Porn, and Raymond Churchill all ran PRs in the 800. In the mile the guys totalled 75 seconds worth of PRs. Harlan Matson ran under 5 minutes for the first time with a 19 second PR. Mike Forbear ran a PR for the win, Aiden Haughian ran a 16 second PR for 4th, Paul DeAvila ran a PR for 5th, Henry Matson, Jason Zigmant, and Patrick Kacena all ran huge PRs to inch even closer to sub 5, all with times under 5:06.
The 4x400 relay also had some great PR legs: Alex Rojo, Jayson Matula, Raymond Churchill, Aaron Wyckoff, and Jason Zigmant.
The team is back in action on Tuesday against Oswego East and West Aurora.
