School Records Fall Early in Indoor Season

With three full-team meets already under their belts in the 2018 season, the Eagles, nearing the halfway point of their indoor campaign, have already netted a handful of school records and a smattering of "Top-10" all-time best marks in program history.  

Taking home the lone overall varsity record of the young season, distance runner and team captain Zev Goldberg, trying his hand at a new event,  eclipsed the previous indoor record in the oft uncontested shot put, with a put of 30 feet 7 inches at last weeks Hinsdale Central Open.  

Accompanying Goldberg's record setting mark in Hinsdale was a pair of new sophomore school bests, in addition to one all-time freshman best.  Second year varsity runner Ian Bacon continued his strong start setting a new school record in the sophomore 600m run with a time of 1:30.5 lowering teammate Jeremy Brown's previous record by nearly two seconds.  Joining him was also the quartet of freshmen Drew Blackledge and Aaron Hou ,alongside sophomores Ryan DeSantis and Baito Sarkiss, who added their own names atop the record board with a new indoor school record in the sophomore 1600m relay, edging the previous time by three seconds in 3:54.9.  

Freshman Aaron Hou completed the underclassmen record sweep in the 600m run, breaking former All-State 800m runner Arthur Santoro's freshman record by a few tenths of a second, clocking a 1:37.8.  Sarkiss and DeSantis' runs in the 600m also placed them under the previous sophomore school record before Bacon broke it again in a later heat, earning them the number two and three all-time spots on the sophomore list, respectively (in addition to the overall number seven and nine spots).    

Brown led the way overall for the Eagles winning the varsity 600m run in commanding fashion to hold on to his number three placing on the Jones All-Time list, while senior Nicholas Rappe notched the number eight spot all time in school history.  Sophomore Jason Mei also nabbed the tenth spot all-time for sophomores, while freshman Drew Blackledge ran to the fourth best mark in school history for freshmen in the event .  

In addition to the 600m event, a pair of middle-distance Eagles also produced strong enough times in the 200m dash to place themselves on the all-time indoor lists with junior Erich Sauer grabbing the sixth spot overall and sophomore Matthew Lagges recording the seventh best sophomore time ever recorded.
